Last week, when our entire family was invited to experience the preschool side of Walt Disney World for #DisneyKids, my eyes were opened to so many new experiences. It was Red’s first time at Disney, and while I’ve been to the parks many times in my life (I count myself lucky!), I hadn’t yet seen anything from my son’s point of view, nor did I know about all the specialized activities for little kids. While I don’t have a little girl (*yet*), and I’m a little above the age limit for the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, I was so happy to hear my group of #DisneyKids were going to experience the salon in Downtown Disney, I was really excited. But wait… is there anything for boys there?? Sure, you can dress up like a princess, get your makeup, hair and nails done, but would Red want any of that? Would someone make fun of him if he did want it? (For the record, if he wanted it, I would let him try it, no questions asked). After a little research, I discovered that yes, they do have special experiences for boys, too!
A while ago, the Boutique offered a Pirates package, but that has moved to the Pirates League in the Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland. (Boys and Girls can visit to become pirates, empresses or mermaids) Since then, the boy’s experience at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique has changed to a Knight Package (as well as an upgraded Deluxe Knight with costume) for around $20! Little gents are treated to the same pomp and circumstance as a female client (though the visit is MUCH shorter), and our Godmother-In-Training, Jessica, made sure to make Red feel extremely special. Make sure to check out the video at the bottom of the post to see more fabulousness from Jessica!
Red was given a choice of slicked down hair or dragon spikes with nice smelling hair gel, magical multi-colored hair confetti, and a special heavy-dusting of godmother magical pixie dust along with the wishes that go with it! Red was so enamored with his “magic hair” and wanted me to take pictures of the top to show him. Even though we’ve been home for several days, he keeps asking me for more “magic hair!” Anyone know where to get hair confetti so I can *try* to recreate the experience?
To top off our visit, Red was given a huge foam knight shield and sword, which look strikingly like Prince Phillip’s from Sleeping Beauty! The LEGO store at Downtown Disney is right next to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, so we made sure to pose with Maleficent the Dragon before heading to the Cinderella Movie Premiere with our new hairdo. My little dragon-slayer looks right at home!
My thoughts on taking your little boys to the Boutique? Do it! While I wish there were more options for boys, like an optional cape purchase, dress up items or a sash like the girls have, my son was overwhelmed by the excitement and pomp that Godmother-In-Training Jessica bestowed on him. It stuck with him the entire trip, and even after we were home. Experiences like this shouldn’t be reserved for just girls, and I’m happy that boys have an option to be treated so well. Take your whole brood to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique (but be sure to make an appointment!!) and have fun; we loved it!

This is adorable! Somehow even with my Disney obsession I didn’t realize that they did a boy experience at BBB! So cool!

So cute! And bravo to your for your comment that if he had wanted to have his nails done and be a princess for a day you would have let him.
Great mama!

… and if you ask me it’s not terrible for a “knight” to be surrounded by so many beautiful “princesses” =)

I love Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique! We’ve been once with my girls and we will be back! I do wish that they would section off part of it and make it look like a room for a Prince. That might attract more boys but I’ve seen them with boy customers and the do a great job.

I knew about the Pirates stuff in Adventureland but I did not know this about the Boutique. I don’t have children yet, but this is something that is good to know for the future!

I can’t believe we still haven’t taken Little M to Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique!
She’s a little older now so the next time we go, she can experience all the magic offered there better. I can’t wait!

Thank you for posting this! I booked the knights package for my son (he’s a twin) and I was worried he wouldn’t get the magic that the princesses do. My fears have been eased!
Redhead Baby Mama says
Yes, he will love it! It’s a much faster appointment than the girls, but no less special!

Lindsey,
I’m the youngest of 16 kids , when I was 5 I got caught trying on my sister’s dress and it didn’t set well with my parents. After being spanked with a belt I was threatened that this better never happen again. I became the black sheep of the family. On a weekly basis I was told that I was worthless and would never amount to anything. I never heard the words “I love you” ,I never had a birthday party and only got hand me down clothes. At the age of 14 I ran away from home…not across town but a thousand miles away. At 15 I dropped out of school , was living on my own with a full time job. Only by the grace of God did I make it to adulthood. I often wonder how my life would have turned out if I would of had unconditional love. It’s so important to show your kids love…My kids know I love them!
