The long awaited addition to Six Flags Over Georgia is finally here! Hurricane Harbor officially opened to the public this week, welcoming families with state of the art slides, a tsunami wave pool, an upgraded kid’s pleasure island as well as snack bars, lockers, cabanas and lounging areas. Beautiful Hurricane Harbor offers a welcome water retreat from the Georgia summer heat.
I put together a little video highlighting some of the rides and the overall feel of this portion of the theme park. It’s not a FULL water park like the Six Flags owned White Water, but it’s a great place to cool off during the hot months. Check out the video below!
Don’t want to get your nice tank top all wet? No worries. Hurricane Harbor has two sizes of lockers, large and small, which will fit your change of clothes and a large backpack and towel. Change clothes in the very nice bathhouses – there are restroom stalls as well as spacious private changing booths. Although there is no official stroller parking in Hurricane Harbor, it is in the BACK of the park, so you’ll want a stroller to huff your kids through the parking lot to this area of Six Flags and set your stroller to the side in the lounging chair area.
Life jackets of all sizes are complimentary, as are clean inner tubes for each ride. Grab some and float around for a while before you grab a bite to eat in the Harbor snack bars. Red and I enjoyed Hurricane Harbor for a few hours during the media preview, and we had a blast! 2 hours was plenty of time to enjoy the water before I had to peel a very tired Red from the wave pool and urge him to change clothes so we could catch a quick little boat through Monster Plantation before we left the park. (The boat excited him, the scary parts of the ride did not….) He was all smiles when the ride started and ended.
After the water filled day, we made sure to grab a snack of Dippin’Dots. Due to Red’s food pickiness he almost didn’t try it, but Mama won out and he LOVED it.
Bottom line? Bring your whole family to Hurricane Harbor. Most of the Six Flags park isn’t toddler friendly, but the wave pool and Paradise Island offer a lot to families in the hot Georgia weather. What would you do first in this part of the park?
I really wish I had kids…I am gonna have to get my nephew more often. I saw so many of my friends who went to Hurricane Harbor for the media day on Friday. It looks like so much fun! I know your and your son had a great time!
Ha Ha, girl, I would find the nearest shade tree! I hate water parks.. because I CAN’T SWIM! ;( and the rides terrify me… I’m always amazed at how people can ride these rides.. it’s like free falling.
Looks like a fun place in the summer! We have one here in STL, I’ll have to bring my son sometime.
We are planning a trip there this summer! I will have to check out this new area! Monster plantation was always my favorite ride, even when I was little!

We have season passes to Six Flags in Gurnee Ill. We love Hurricane Harbor – in fact we were there yesterday. The kids LOVE it!

That looks awesome. The waterpark at Six Flags New England is pretty similar and my boys LOVE it.
He was looking a little tired at the end there. I wasn’t sure how Jackson would do beyond the wave pool but they did a good job incorporating areas for the little ones at Hurricane Harbor. I am looking forward to going back. My water-loving child was definitely in his happy place.

Hurricane Harbor is so much fun! (Of course, my experience was limited to the wave pool) Red did look SO HAPPY to be there! I’m glad that Six Flags added this.
Hurricane Harbor looks like a BLAST! I haven’t been to 6 Flags Georgia since I was a kid. Looks like we may need to take a trip, it would be a great weekend trip for the family!

My boy would be all over the wave pool (since he’s a toddler.) I doubt he’d be up for anything scary. I love having easy access to water parks (which we do not have!)
We had tons of fun. I love that place and think we’re going to get season passes. My baby goes to school right across the street so I’m by there almost everyday.
This event looks great! I wish I was able to attend but had to work. My girls got free passes this Summer to Six Flags so I’ll be taking them soon.
I hate that I missed out on this event last week! We will definitely be checking out Hurricane Harbor this summer though.
